Looks like we’ve got an escapee from MCCC. Here’s a news release we received an hour ago from the Hawaii Department of Public Safety:

Last night at approximately 9:40 p.m. inmate Junior Jorju escaped from the Maui Community Correctional Center.He was discovered missing at the 9:30 p.m. headcount. A facility lock down was called. A search of the interior and exterior of the facility was conducted. Maui Police were immediately notified. It is not known how he escaped at this time. The incident is under investigation.Junior Jorju is a sentenced misdemeanant. He was considered community custody, which is the lowest risk level. His sentence started on 7/7/14 and was and was supposed to end on 7/20/14.He was serving 14 days for for Driving without a License and Criminal Contempt of Court.Inmate Jorju is 40 years old. He is 5’4″ tall and weighs 135 lbs. He has brown hair and brown eyes.If you see Junior Jorju, do not approach him. Please call 911 and report the sighting.
According to the latest news release, corrections officials don’t really know how Jurju got out:
